Hello!  My name is Julian Velez and I’m an Exercise Science student at Norwalk Community College.  When I’m not in class, I work as a sales associate at a pharmacy with my fiancée.  In my free time, you’ll find me working out at the gym, cooking up some delicious and healthy food, practicing Parkour, and doing various martial arts.   I hold a black belt in Isshinryu karate, and also have experience in Matayoshi Kobudo (Okinawan weapons).

I hope to gain an A.S. degree in Exercise Science here at N.C.C.  I love to exercise and my goal is to instill a love of exercise in everyone else too.  My grandparents have health issues from poor diet and lack of any exercise, and I use them as an inspiration to keep moving.  Although my main goal is to work as a personal trainer in the general public, after N.C.C. I also want to get a B.S. in Nutrition, so that I can be a certified nutritionist.  Too many people forget to pay attention to what they’re eating.  If there is anything that will curb America’s obesity epidemic, it will be a change in diet along with increased exercise.  With a bachelor’s degree, I can also be certified with the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).  As people age their bone density decreases, increasing the likelihood of injury.  The only way to prevent this is with resistance training.  With America’s general population getting older, I hope to find being a certified strength and conditioning coach helpful towards bettering the lives of others.
