Siddhartha Gautama

also known as the Buddha, the "Awakened One"

(Aproximately 563 BC - 483 BC)

Siddhartha Gautama is the founder of Buddhism.  He taught people how to free themselves from ignorance, greed and hatred.  He believed people should reject scriptural precepts and base their lives on the real world, with compassion and  acceptance of all living things.
