My name is (sometimes) Lisa Pierce Breunig and I teach composition, literature, and journalism at NCC. I also teach an English course called "Texts and Contexts" at Fairfield University. Why do I say that my name is sometimes Lisa Pierce Breunig? Because when I'm not teaching, I'm often writing articles, essays, fiction, poetry, and, most recently, a book about Puerto Rico, under a variety of pen names and bylines - Lisa Pierce, Lisa Pierce Flores. In the words of poet Walt Whitman, "I am a multitude." Aren't we all?

For more on why I answer to many names, read "What's In a Name?," an essay I wrote for the May/June issue of HealthyLife magazine.
